For accountants, payroll bureaus and IT service providers: which files Klacks produces, which it reads and where the limits are.
As of November 2026. Formats and features change with every update; the source code on GitHub is authoritative.
Klacks plans staff and assignments. Klacks is not payroll accounting and does not calculate pay. After a period is closed, Klacks produces files with the hours worked, surcharges and absences that your payroll or accounting software reads in. That removes double entry. Klacks also reads in orders from your ERP as an XML file (see the section Inbound).
| Format | Country | Target software and file type |

| Merit Palk (under review) | Estonia | Pay-component import, CSV |

| Generic format | worldwide | Personnel number, date, wage type, quantity as CSV or Excel, for payroll software whose import wizard maps the columns itself |
You define once which wage type corresponds to which code in your software. Surcharges are time surcharges and are shown as time, not as a money amount.

The order export is a proof of service, not an invoice. Invoicing stays with your accounting software.
An ERP system can drop orders as an XML file into a folder of Klacks. Klacks checks the folder regularly, creates customers and orders as drafts and keeps a ledger of every file. A planner or administrator seals the drafts by hand. The file format is a Klacks-specific XML schema.
There are no vendor-specific connectors for individual ERP products. An IT service provider produces the XML file from the ERP. Qualifications are not imported; the planner adds them when sealing.
Klacks is released under the AGPL-3.0-only and can be used without a licence fee. Service providers may install and support Klacks for their customers and charge for setup, integration and maintenance. They publish their own changes under the AGPL, for everyone who uses their installation over a network. Anyone who does not want that needs a commercial licence; details are on the licence page.
Brand names such as DATEV, Abacus, BMD, Fortnox or Visma belong to their owners and are named only to identify the target format.
