This website is operated on servers of Hetzner Online GmbH (Germany). For technical reasons, access data is processed in server log files when the website is accessed (IP address, time of access, page accessed, browser identifier). This data is used exclusively for the secure operation of the website and is not combined with other data sources. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a stable and secure operation.
For displaying pages, the website uses a persistent connection to the server (WebSocket/SignalR). No personal data beyond the server logs is stored in the process.
This website — with the exception of the Klacks Store (see section 4) — does not use cookies, does not use any third-party analytics or tracking tool, and does not load any content from third parties. Fonts and icons are delivered locally from our own server; your IP address is not transmitted to third parties (e.g. Google Fonts).
To find out whether the website is visited at all, we count anonymously on our own server how often pages are requested and individual buttons (e.g. Playground, download, links to GitHub and to the documentation) are clicked. Also counted are the playing of a video, switching between the simple and the expert view, and the use of the share buttons (by email or by copying the link). Links shared through these buttons carry the marker ref=share, which is counted as a coarse origin. Only aggregated counters per day are stored, broken down by page type, country and language of the requested page, a coarse origin (e.g. search engine, AI assistant or direct access) and whether the request came from an automated program (bot). The browser identifier and the referring address are only evaluated briefly for this purpose and are not stored. No cookies are set, and neither IP addresses nor complete page addresses are stored; no profile of individual visitors is created. The counters are not shared with third parties and are deleted after 400 days at the latest.
The Klacks Store is a separate service with a user account. Unlike the other pages, it sets technically necessary cookies. They serve exclusively to operate the Store, contain no tracking identifiers and are not passed on to third parties. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a functioning and secure operation.
If you manually switch between the light and the dark appearance in the Store, the browser remembers the choice in its session storage (sessionStorage, key klacks-store-theme) until the tab is closed. The value (dark or light) is not transmitted to the server. Without switching, the Store follows the setting of your browser or operating system.
For an account in the Store, we store your email address, display name and your password exclusively as a salted hash. We store support tickets with their messages until the account is deleted. The legal basis is the provision of the account.
Upon request to marketing@klacks-software.ch, we delete your account: tickets and messages are deleted, and the account is anonymized. Packages you have published remain available with an anonymized author.
When a package is downloaded, we store the time and the package as well as a shortened IP prefix (IPv4 without the last octet, IPv6 only the first 48 bits), which on its own does not identify an individual person. The entries serve download statistics and secure operation and are deleted after 400 days at the latest. The legal basis is our legitimate interest.
If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide (email address, content of the message) in order to respond to your inquiry. The data is not stored in a database and is not shared with third parties.
The Playground instance of Klacks linked from this website is a public test environment. Do not enter any real personal data there — all data in the Playground instance is automatically reset on a regular basis. The privacy policy available within the application also applies to the Playground instance.
