Shift Operations Beyond 8h/48h (Art. 100)
With ministry approval, employers running shift operations (العمل بنظام المناوبات) may exceed 8 hours per day or 48 hours per week — provided the average over 3 weeks comes back to 8h/48h.
Up to 9h/Day for Intermittent Duties
For staff categories with intermittent (non-continuous) duties, Art. 100 allows up to 9 hours per day — nearly impossible to track by hand across many wards and rotations.
Overtime Still under Art. 107
Even in shift operations, every overtime hour must be paid at the hourly wage plus 50% of the base wage (effectively 150%).

Overtime Premium as Time Credit
The statutory 50% premium on the base wage (Art. 107) can be stored as a time premium; Klacks credits it as time credit for every overtime hour, and your payroll system calculates the money amount.

In Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development decrees all four official public holidays centrally — uniformly across the whole Kingdom, with no provincial or municipal level like in Europe. The real challenge lies elsewhere: the two religious holidays, whose exact date is only confirmed at short notice by moon sighting.

It all comes down to the settings
Klacks offers countless ways to calculate rules and hour credits for nights, weekends, public holidays and overtime — exactly the way your contracts and company agreements require.
- Nights and weekends You set the night window and the surcharge rates yourself, and choose up to three weekend days — as a multiplier that is added to the hours worked as a time credit in hours.
- Public holidays and overtime A separate public-holiday rate, and overtime per day or per week in up to three tiers. When several surcharges fall on the same hour, the highest one applies — or all of them add up.
- Your own calculation with a macro If that is not enough, a macro does the maths: a short script using weekday, time of day, public holidays and contract values — with conditions, loops and functions of your own.
- Scheduling rules Rest periods, maximum daily and weekly hours, consecutive working days, free Sundays or hour caps per period — each one as a warning or, in automatic planning, as a block.
